Refreshing Day 12 ~ In My Heart and On My Mind

Holding it in:

Psalm 32: 3, 4 ~

When I kept it all inside,
my bones turned to powder,
my words became daylong groans.

The pressure never let up;
the juices of my life dried up.

The new:
In January,  during one of my prayer times, I was having a struggle to focus and rest. It had happened many times before. But, on this particular day a new way of journaling happened for me.

I read Psalm 32 that morning and "On My Heart and In My Mind" became a regular part of my quiet time.

At first, I'd do this whenever I was struggling. Now, it's become a time for searching my own heart and mind for anything, anyone that might be overwhelming my thoughts and emotions.

Let it out and be refreshed:
Psalm 32: 5 ~

Then I let it all out
I said, "I'll make a clean breast of my failures to God."

Suddenly, the pressure was gone —
my guilt dissolved,
my sin disappeared.

Failures...guilt...sin...worries...doubts...fears...concerns...anxiousness...regular daily "stuff"...

I let out anything that overwhelmed me.

It is completely refreshing my quiet times. I don't realize how much I push aside or hold onto.

Everything in our hearts and on our minds matters to God. One of Gods dreams for us is to be at peace and have soul rest.

Soul Refreshment:

John 14:27 ~

That's my parting gift to you. Peace.
I don't leave you the way you're used to being left -
feeling abandoned, bereft.
So don't be upset.
Don't be distraught.

Refreshing Conversation:

Any thoughts on finding refreshment in your quiet times?
Did something else come to mind?

There's no "one" way to do it. That's the coolest gift of quiet times. It's entirely your own.
