Refreshing Day 13 ~ In This Season: A Well-Fed Soul

Soul Refreshment:

Jeremiah 33:3 ~

' Call to me and I will answer you.

I'll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.'

How refreshing and comforting to be told I have someone to talk to. Not only that, He wants to tell me some crazy awesome things!!!

The letting go. It brings changes that both bless and painfully purge. This season of my life is not folded neat or perfectly. Not having control feels like chaos at times.

So many moments of joy this year. Our oldest son's wedding and welcoming our new daughter-in-law into our family.  Then the birth of our very first grandson. Our youngest son about to head out on a fall tour with the band he drums and sings with.

The many moments of joy can be swept away so quickly by major moments of challenge.

I let it happen too often.

In this season, my journey is harsh, but completely God guided. I'm not alone. I feel that way sometimes, but I'm reminded that I'm surrounded and supported. I'm covered in the prayers of people who've stepped out in faith to do that for me.

Their prayers and support leave my soul well-fed.

The pain of watching loved ones struggle and strive. My weak self wants curl up and hide under the covers. I'd rather pretend it's not my life.

In this season, that pain propels me to dive into the beauty I unwrap in my every day joys. This is new to me. Life doesn't happen under the covers

God's every day joys and the beauty of it all,
leaves my soul well-fed.

He teaches me to unwrap with...
my guitar, my pen, my laptop keys, the clicks of my camera

He leads me to search...
for the beauty and keep sharp eyes for those hidden gifts of joy God leaves for me to open. They're everywhere!

A walk, a hike, meeting someone new - all opportunities to unwrap beautiful gifts of joy.

Being here, writing these words, and sharing them with refreshes me.

In this season, in the blessings and pain, my soul is being well-fed. I'm nourished by God's gifts and His amazing attention to my present needs.

He nourishes you and gives you the very same attention. Only, He does it in a special way that's just specific to you. Have you noticed? It's in the little every day moments.

Who/What keeps your soul well-fed?

Like you said, the little everyday moments. The challenge is not to let the darker moments obliterate the happy ones.

It is a challenge to not let the darker moments overwhelm the other moments. I am still learning this lesson.

I left an award for you on my blog! You are great and I wanted people to know it.

"Life doesn't happen under the covers."

Sometimes I want to hide under the covers too, but you're right that we have to get out there to experience his goodness and to feed our souls. I love how you feed your soul through writing and photography and family and music...those work for me too.

I'm in a tough season--again--too. Being physically set aside tells me I still have much to learn. It's comforting to know God listens as well as he speaks. :)I just need to listen a bit more. I've been blessed with many who have stepped up and helped where I couldn't do for myself.

@Nikole & Katie - Amen! @Cheryl A.S. - thank you for that. what a gift. @Lisa - Out from under the covers with you and our new grandkids...yeah! @Sheryl O - Physically set aside...I totally relate. It is wonderful to have people who help during those times and in spiritually. Thank you for letting me know I'm not alone.

It is so obvious that God is guiding and leading you during this season of your life. You are noticing those everyday joys. And I believe that is a gift. You are choosing to trust Him even if life isn't perfect. And when is it perfect, after all?

You wrote that "He teaches me" and "He leads me". He provides you with those opportunities to trust and obey. Thank for you sharing your heart.

I'm so glad you stopped by Heart Choices and commented. I'm glad I found your blog.

Blessings and love,

Thanks for these thoughts, which I identified with. This one was one of those: "The pain of watching loved ones struggle and strive." So hard, and maybe the older we grow, the more we see of this. How it breaks our hearts. Yet, I am thankful, as you are too, that hard things bring us to experience God's love in ways that we never would have otherwise, as we run to Him, and as He surrounds us with the love and prayers of others. Thanks for sharing!

I love the first verse in Jeremiah that you shared. I have often heard that called "God's phone number" ;-)

You have a beautifully, refreshing heart and a joyful contagious spirit!

Thank you for sharing that with "us"!

@LindseyV I heard it called that too :-) Your words are so kind and sweet. You've filled my heart.
