Grace is the Perfect Woman/Person

Lately, guilt has stemmed from false responsibility.

As my body heals itself, I require more rest. There are times my body cries for a week of rest or even more.

Doctors orders are to “live like you’re retired”. I’m supposed to do things at my own pace and listen to my body for the “okay, that’s enough for now” message. I’m really good at doing it too!

calm exercise

Then, there are those times when I see David in training and doing his normal days’ work in one work day.

That’s when I see... how imperfect I am. I put a good foot forward and try to be like I was - Chief cook and bottle washer. The “I can do everything myself and you can count on me” girl

All that leaves is a wiped out, worn out, and of no benefit to anyone woman. And...my body shuts down like I went to the gym and worked out for hours.

dog napping...LOL

The only way to escape my “perfect woman” trap is to...
Be content where I’m at! I can only do and offer what I can...and that’s perfect enough :D
Know what taking good care of me means - rest, relaxation, enjoyment,  low stress in all areas and eating right. Then, understand how to live it in a way that fits me.
Let God re-create me day by day making me into that new woman of peace and slow flow who trusts His plans for me and His timing. That’s sustainable living.
Accept who I am right now - progressively healing, differently paced from the rat race, learning to have grace toward myself.
"wave" - he just wants the snack

That’s why Grace is the perfect woman/person with Wisdom and Understanding as mentors.

Her result is true beauty.

Proverbs 4:3
"Take this to heart. Do what I tell you—live! Sell everything and buy Wisdom
Forage for Understanding! Don't forget one word! Don't deviate an inch!
Never walk away from Wisdom—she guards your life; love her—she keeps her eye on you.
Above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom! Write this at the top of your list:
Get Understanding! Throw your arms around her—believe me, you won't regret it; never let her go—she'll make your life glorious.

She'll garland your life with grace, she'll festoon your days with beauty."."

Have you ever dealt with false responsibility? Especially, when it seems "it's" the "right thing" to do.

Thank you Honey for adding the pics!

Oh my goodness, Jeri, can I ever relate to this entire post! Since I was diagnosed with FM, I've had to force myself to slow down and take life gently, but it's so hard to do. I do feel guilty when I see Mike doing so much, but then when I try to do as much as I used to, I'm exhausted for several days after. I keep reminding myself to be forgiving and accepting and so far, little by little, I'm getting there. Thank you so much for this post. You're the best!

I agree that guilt does often stem from false responsibility. I know that’s true with me, too. I have to be careful to examine my guilt to know what is true and what is deceptive. I love the scriptures you share. Thanks!

I need to remember your words. I so often confuse self-care with selfishness. They are not the same. When I get caught comparing myself to others who are in a different place, they seem like they are the same.

@Lisa "to know what's true and what's deceptive" - definitely.

@Sheryl - self-care or selfishness - me too and often. So thankful God is patient with us.
