The Search is Ova (DYK)

Did ya know that the mighty, little flax seed can be used to replace the incredible edible egg in your baking needs?  Just grind one tablespoon of flax seeds and mix it with three tablespoons of water (to replace one egg).  The good people at Vegan Baking state that if using pre-ground flax seeds then you'll need to up it to 2-1/2 tablespoons. Brendan Brazier (in his book Thrive) suggests that we buy the flax seeds whole as they "contain all their health-promoting oils, nutrients, enzymes, vitamins and minerals."

we made a lentil loaf from Terry Walters Clean Food cookbook...really yum. She used flaxseed as the binder. It was the first time I ever heard of it.

Great DYK Honey. Awesome :D

I believe in the power of flax seeds!! I use it, without fail, for every bread I make. It works wonders. Specifically, I use it in an upside-down buckwheat pizza bread and in a cocoa mint chocolate cake (made, of course, with buckwheat). It's incredible! I love it. :D
